“I like to play guitar and sing a lot of different styles of music. That's always been a big part of my life. It is what makes me happy and keeps me content. To me music is the ultimate form of self-expression.”
-Vic Rochkus

Vic Rochkus has spent more than four decades recording and performing music throughout the country and teaching the joy of music making here in Chicago.

Sometime in the late 1950’s a seven year-old Vic Rochkus decided to teach himself how to play the guitar. He played with friends and had all of the fun with music a child should. As Vic grew older music stuck with him.

Ten years later, in his teens Vic began to play in neighborhood garage bands, It wasn’t long after those garage band days that he joined the ranks of popular local bands such as “Crossfire” and “The Lincoln Park Zoo” and found himself opening up for popular bands of the day such as Steppenwolf, The Spencer Davis Group, The Ides of March, Three Dog Night, The Cryan’ Shames, Buddy Guy, Styx, and many others. In that time Vic spent five years on the road touring and playing in forty-three different states.
His first teaching job was at a coffee house on the south side of Chicago in 1970.There he found himself playing with a young aspiring singer/songwriter named Kevin Cronin (lead vocalist, REO Speedwagon). There he taught classes of both children and adults who wanted to learn how to have fun playing the guitar and singing along. A few years later Vic was teaching private lessons at Carnevale’s School of Music. In 1980 he opened his own branch of Windy City Music in Orland Park, and then another in Palos Heights. He continued to teach and repair guitars through the 80’s and into the 90’s. Throughout this time Vic performed in various rock bands, wedding bands and party bands, playing a variety of musical styles as well as regularly recording in studios as a guitarist and vocalist musician.

Having made many life-long friends through music, Vic is now bringing his experience, talent and partnerships together in the atmosphere of a professional recording studio and music production company at Horse-Drawn Productions. His mission, to give people at all levels of musical interest and ability to see how music is produced and recorded while they learn to play and have fun with it.
“It has always been my belief that music has to be fun and it has to move you like nothing else can.”
